Education and
Community Projects
The Irish Chamber Orchestra welcomes every chance to bring music
out of the concert hall and into the community, and runs a number of projects
for all ages and stages of musical development.
Making music fun
Many of the members of the ICO are highly trained workshop leaders and
have extensive experience leading creating projects with children of all ages
and abilities.
As well as visits to schools throughout Ireland, the musicians lead Music
Factory, an annual community project as part of the Shannon International
Music Festival, taking young participants on a five-day adventure of music,
movement and story-telling, using rhythm-games, improvisation, drama and
instrument making.
Opening doors
We welcome school and college students of all ages to our concerts and can
arrange discount packages for groups (subject to availability). Please contact
us to find out more.
Side by Side
Side by side is a mentoring scheme aimed at helping the next generation of
Irish musicians. The orchestra invite Irish music students and professionals
just starting their careers to join them in masterclasses, rehearsals and
selected concerts.
The Ardan award
Every year Artistic director Anthony Marwood awards a young musician with
extraordinary potential the ICO Ardan award. The recipient works with the ICO
on multiple occasions, allowing the relationship to develop and bringing real
creativity. |
