Composed in 1944 in occupied Paris, by a composer recently released from a Nazi
internment camp, Messiaen’s mesmeric Vingt Regards sur l’Enfant-Jésus has a depth, scope and scale that make it one of the most outstanding piano cycles ever Marwood composed.

It combines spectacular virtuosity with a deep sense of spirituality. Joanna MacGregor’s interpretation of this epic cycle has been celebrated the world over, making this concert a perfect storm of piece, performer and setting.
